The Slaughter of Innocents Through Abortifacient Contraception

Bishop Victor Galeone, on the 35th anniversary of Humanae Vitae, issued his beautiful pastoral, "Marriage: A Communion of Life and Love," which he opened by referring to contraception as a serious disorder, the taproot of escalating failed marriages and divorce, and a worsening of sexual behavior at every level of society. He also called contraception a spiritual cancer in the Church. He blamed its devastating impact on the family and the Church on 40 years of silence by the vast majority of bishops and priests.
The family is now battling to survive in an unprecedented and rapidly deteriorating sexually obsessed and atheistic/agnostic/hedonistic culture that is aggressively anti-traditional Judeo/Christian values and poses a very serious threat to the very near future of our society. How much longer will our loving and merciful God allow this satanic plague to continue before He is forced to employ His Divine justice to bring us back to the reality of our primary mission as members of the Mystical Body of His Son Jesus Christ's Catholic Church: living and evangelizing His Divine Will, and totally focused on the salvation of souls from hell – -and for heaven for all eternity?!?
What would every true Catholic feel bound to say or do if they knew that in the year 2008, in just the 20 largest Catholic Dioceses in the USA alone, 1,700,000 to 3,000,000 innocent babies would be killed in their unknowing mother's womb by abortifacient contraception (the Pill, IUDS, Depo-Provera, Norplant)? Furthermore, 640,000 to 1,150,000 of these dead babies were conceived by Catholic parents.
Sadly, based on the irrefutable and well researched/documented medical/biological/pharmaceutical facts (Ad Hoc Commission's "Study of Abortion Deaths" booklet: "Infant Homicides Through Contraceptives" published by Eternal Life, Bardstown, Kentucky), these shocking and horrific statistics on babies killed by abortifacient contraception are very likely to be depressingly and generally accurate.
The population of these 20 dioceses numbers 80,000,000, including 30,000,000 Catholics (OSV's Catholic Almanac 2008 edition). The overall number of God's precious infants in the womb killed by abortifacient contraception in 2008 in the 195 Catholic dioceses was 6,555,000 to 11,715,000, of which 1,500,000 to 2,600,000 were conceived by Catholic parents.
Because of abortifacient contraceptives and surgical abortions, babies killed in the womb now outnumber live births by 2 to 1, and in the last 40 years the number of God's precious infants killed in the womb in the USA exceeds the 308,000,000 people now alive! Much worse, the Guttmacher Institute is now publicizing the fact that one billion (1,000,000,000) babies have been killed by surgical abortion throughout the world since 1970. This means that when we add the billions more silently slaughtered by abortifacient contraceptives, we will soon have killed more human beings in the womb than the total number of people now inhabiting the earth (6,700,000,000). Please O loving and merciful God, help us now!
The family, "The Foundation of the Church and the Future of Society," has been ravished and decimated by contraception for two generations - primarily because the Catholic Church has failed to effectively educate the faithful regarding true love, holy marriage, and happy holy trusting families who are joyfully committed to God's Divine Will regarding the transmission of human life. Not surprisingly, the vast majority of Catholic couples believe that contraception is approved by the Church, under the "follow your conscience" clause, even though the Church has always definitively taught that contraception is an intrinsic evil and never permitted for any reason, with no exceptions. Furthermore, only a minute number of the laity is aware that the most popular forms of contraception are abortifacient (the Pill, IUDs, Depo-Provera and Norplant). In fact, they probably have never even heard the words, "abortifacient contraceptives."
The Catholic Church's mandate from Almighty God is to constantly and effectively teach the faithful and everyone in the world the splendor of the truth and the gospel of life, especially as regards the sacredness of every human life from the moment of conception/fertilization to natural death. "All human beings, from their mother's womb, belong to God who searches them and knows them, who forms them and knits them together with His own hands, who gazes on them when they are tiny shapeless embryos and already sees in them the adults of tomorrow." (The Gospel of Life, # 61)
There are dozens of extremely important aspects and issues directly related to the spiritual cancer of contraception (such as sexual relations, the transmission of life, happy holy marriages, the family, and the holiness and sacred mission of the Church) which require the comprehensive education of the flock by their Shepherds as an absolute and continuing #1 priority. Every necessary human and financial resource must be dedicated to the success of this Holy Spirit-inspired and directed exposition and eradication of the insidious Satanic attack on our Catholic Church, at its foundational level, the family.
"The Partial Contraception List," [that is, the problematic areas stemming from the use of artificial contraception, are numerous]: divorce, broken families, children of divorce, cohabitation, pre-marital sexual relations, Pre-Cana programs, NFP, infertility, female fertility care, in vitro fertilization, artificial insemination, embryonic stem cell research, directly intended sterilization; Catholic doctors' involvement in contraception, in vitro, sterilization and embryonic stem cell research; amniocentesis, selective abortions; Catholic hospitals' total compliance [or lack thereof] with Catholic teaching; Catholic pharmacists filling prescriptions for abortifacient contraceptives and the morning after pill; Catholic priests counseling on contraception and/or sterilization both in and out of the confessional; marriage counseling; recreational sex and the current pandemic of sexually transmitted diseases, Catholic sex education at every appropriate level of school status or state in life; the Theology of the Body, True Love Waits, Abstinence Only, Chastity Apostolates; the multitude of attendant medical problems of contraception for women; priestly and religious vocations from holy families, especially large holy families; sacrilegious Communions; the degree of holiness of and the number of graces flowing from the Mystical Body of Christ upon the Church and all of society … and the list goes on! Every item on this "List" deserves a high-priority comprehensive education program on an immediate and on-going basis.
Likewise there are dozens of appropriate "wise old sayings," which can describe the urgent necessity to expose and eradicate the spiritual cancer of contraception in our Church… now! Time is of the essence; Better late than never; Fear is useless, what is needed is trust; We are the light of the world; The truth has a power of its own; The splendor of the truth; Knowledge is power; We can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens us; Certain evil spirits can only be driven out through prayer and fasting; O Mary conceived without out sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee; Pray the rosary every day for peace in the family, peace in the womb and peace in the world. Come Holy Spirit, fill our hearts, enkindle in us the fire of Your love; Jesus, we trust in You; Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven… ; "Qui Tacet Consentire" (He Who Is Silent, Consents).
Shortly before she died, Mother Teresa said: "There will be no peace in the world until there is peace in the womb" and, more ominously, she predicted that "The fruit of abortion will be nuclear war." Pope John Paul II, fulfilling Our Lady of Fatima's request, consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1984 and implored Our Lady to protect us from natural disasters and nuclear war. Then, while visiting Detroit in 1987, Pope John Paul II warned us: "America, your very survival as a nation depends upon how you treat the weakest among you, especially the babies in their mother's womb." At World Youth Day in Denver in 1993 Our Holy Father implored us: "America defend life, defend life!" Finally, at Castel Gandolfo, Italy in 1996 John Paul warned the world, "A nation that kills its own children, is a nation without hope!"
Our bishops must be assured that there is a huge and well organized spiritual army of pro-life, pro-family and pro-Catholic Eucharistic warriors with rosaries in hand, ready and anxious to support their efforts in this ultimate battle to expose and eradicate the spiritual cancer of contraception. The Holy Spirit has guided His army and urges us to constantly reflect on Ephesians 6:10-14: "Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and His mighty power. Put on the armor of God that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. Our battle is not against human forces, but against the principalities and powers, the rulers of this world of darkness, the evil spirits in regions above; stand fast with the truth as the belt around your waist."
Because the victory of the Splendor of God's Truth over the father of lies can only be achieved through the brave and holy leadership of Jesus' Alter Christus, our beloved bishops and priests, we consecrate this vital mission to St. John Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests, and whom Pope Benedict XVI also recently declared the patron saint of all priests. In addition we invoke the patronage of Our Lady of America, the Immaculate Virgin, who has given to the Catholic Church in America the privilege and the mandate to lead us back to purity in love and holy families, in which the Holy Trinity will then dwell, bless and protect. Our Lady then said, the American Catholic Church will then, by example, lead our country and society and the world to the Peace of Christ.
