2. YEAR 2000: TOTAL MELTDOWN OR BIG HYPE?
We've been peppered with reactions the Year 2000 (Y2K) computer problem. Your messages have been very, very interesting. Everyone seems to have an stake in this, and a lot of you work directly with the problem at your companies, or have relatives and friends who do. There is no religious orthodoxy regarding what position you should hold on this primarily human and technical problem.

3. WE PROMISED YOU A JOKE LAST WEEK
During the Cold War in the late 1970's, two Polish guys, Jerzy and Stephon, were sitting in a dark, depressing bar in Warsaw drinking vodka. A KGB agent comes in and walks right up to them, turns to Jerzy, pulls out a gun, points the muzzle at his forehead, then asks in a thick Russian accent, "Vat is two plus two?"

Jerzy, terrified, answered timidly, "Four?"

Upon hearing Jerzy's answer, the KGB agent pulls the trigger. Jerzy falls to the floor, dead. The KGB agent sits down on Jerzy's stool, and starts to sip Jerzy's vodka.

Stephon, horrified by Jerzy's death, sits open-mouthed. Finally, he gathers his courage and cries out to the KGB agent with indignant anger: "But Why? Why did you shoot him!?!"

The KGB agent puts down the vodka, leans close to Stephon, arches one eyebrow, and whispers in a conspiratorial tone: "He knew too much."

See you next week. Don't forget to join Mother in praying for the pope.

Yours in Christ,

Your Friends at CatholiCity
