The CatholiCity Message

Volume IX, Number 9 – September 30, 2005

Dear CatholiCity Citizen,

We have a short, simple message for you today in honor of our simple Carmelite saint, Therese of Lisieux, along with a blast from the CatholiCity Message past about Scapulars. Saint Simon Stock, to whom Our Lady gave the original Brown Scapular, was also a Carmelite. First, a quote.

1. DRAWS FIRST OUR FACES
"Tis no wonder modern devotion to the young lady from Lisieux grows without limit because her childlike love for Christ was without limit. The Little Flower, whose feast appropriately enjoins us at the beginning of autumn, was a gift from the heart of the Holy Trinity to a world on the cusp of a wintry century of warfare, convoluted ideologies, and dangerous quasi-spiritualities whose only common thread was a rejection of Jesus as God. So as with a late-bloomed, velveteen rose, she is a respite alighting her fingertips upon our own when we pray during rough daily conflicts. From heaven she casts her red color upon our cheeks while her grace-filled fragrance, like all beautiful things, distracts us from the odorless illusions proffered by a world gone not so much mad as ugly; she draws first our faces, then our gaze, toward a friendship vouchsafed in the family-comfort home of heaven."

2. IMAGINE SCAPULAR BUMPER STICKERS

3. ASKING FOR A GIFT First, let us call to mind something good–a favor you or a loved one needs or desires.

Then, remember as we pray for her help, that you are not praying alone, but together with all 60,000 CatholiCity Citizens, each of us asking for all our intentions to be granted. We begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit...

"O little Therese of the Child Jesus, please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens and send it to me as a message of love. Ask God today to grant me the favor I I now place with confidence in your hands. Help me to always believe as you did in God's great love for me, so I might imitate your Little Way every day. Amen."

4. COMES WITH GREAT PHOTOS

LITTLE FLOWER QUOTE
"I found the secret of suffering in peace; I don't say joy. To suffer in peace, it is enough to will all that Jesus wills."
Saint Therese of Lisieux
