13 Easters from Now

Volume XXIV, Number 7 – April 12, 2020

Dear CatholiCity Citizen,

Happy Easter!

Please reconsider what you already know: Jesus did not die on Friday, April 10th, 2020, nor rise on Sunday, April 12th, 2020.

As you also know, the crucifixion and resurrection occurred around the year 33 AD, which means the two-thousand year anniversary of the Resurrection, after nineteen hundred and eighty-seven Easters, is a mere 13 Easters from now.

Let's be there for each other in 2033. Sound good?

Jesus, Lord! I see you with your mother in the heavenly court!
As I imagine your wounded hand on my wrist,
gently guiding my finger through the folds of your robe
to trace the gaping slash
just below your Sacred Heart,
I know I am not worthy to ask you for anything.

And so, instead, I ask for everything,
for the rest of my life,
and for the lives of my loved ones, friends, and countrymen,
for so long as these are in perfect accord
with your Father's will. Amen.
