The CatholiCity Message

Volume II, Number 28 – July 22, 1998

Dear CatholiCity Citizen,

It's one of those rare slow weeks at the Mary Foundation and CatholiCity. Just two items...

1. PRAYER REQUEST
The operations manager of the Mary Foundation is going to Louisville this weekend to be with his father, who is in the hospital with a very serious heart condition. Please pray for his family, and for all CatholiCity Citizens who have serious health problems.

2. THE BARRIER METHOD
In our line of work, where souls are actively coming to know the grace and love of God through our books, audios, and CatholiCity, you better believe that we are a target for the evil one. Most of the time, the attacks come from the "outside": computers break down inexplicably, the air conditioning goes off on the hottest day of the year, supplies get lost during delivery, etc. The more difficult attacks come through temptations that play on our human faults and weaknesses, and through our relationships. Sometimes "friends" take something they've heard about us out of context and draw conclusions far removed from reality. Ole sparky doesn't play fair. Long ago, we accepted these attacks as an unavoidable part of the territory. As one wise priest told us, "If you want to avoid the attacks, stop doing your work. Quit." In the big picture, God allows these attacks to prepare and strengthen us, or, He allows them for His own good reasons which we may never fathom.

The reflection above is all leading up to this conclusion: during all the years of battle, we have found one weapon that never fails to protect our families and our work. One weapon that erects a fortress-barrier to keep evil out, and keeps pure grace in. That weapon is called
