The CatholiCity Message

Volume II, Number 44 – November 30, 1998

Dear CatholiCity Citizen,

We hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Lots of stuff this week...let's get started. Yogurt has fruit on the bottom. This message has a joke there...

1. THE BIG DAY
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is only 9 days away! Some of you will be finishing a 54 Day Rosary Novena with us on that day. For others, you can, if you want, start a 9 day novena today. Just pray a Rosary every day from now through December 8th. For those of us consecrated to Immaculate Mary, it's a big day. For us here, it's the biggest. For those of you who don't pray the Rosary, say this prayer with us now, and every day until December 8th: "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you, and those who don't have recourse to you, especially the enemies of the Church."

2. ONLINE LOVE
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. (NAME WITHHELD FOR PRIVACY). She met in him through CatholiCity, fell in love in CatholiCity, and decided to get married in a Virtual Catholic Chapel. Only kidding. They got married in the real world. They asked us to thank all the Citizens who have prayed for them during the courtship. Now they ask for prayers so they would be able to have children. KatholiCity Kids! We can't wait to make the announcement.

3. BELLET REPLAY
In case you missed the chance to order Marie Bellet's album, "What I Wanted to Say," which we plugged like an electrical socket a couple of weeks back, we've posted a picture of this lovely lady on our homepage, along with ordering info. Go to:

4. THREE HUNDRED WHAT?
Yes, the counter on the CatholiCity Homepage clicked past 300,000 last week, on Thanksgiving Day. That's three hundred thousand visits since April of 1996, and over 200,000 since January of 1998. Thanks. The actual number of visitors is around two or three times that number, because just as many go directly to other CatholiCity pages. We're over 1,000,000 real visitors since going online.

5. PITCH IN FOR MITCH
It falls out of the news, but they still need help. For those interested in contributing to the poor souls devastated by Hurricane Mitch in Central America, you can send a tax-deductible contribution made out to "Hurricane Mitch Relief" directly to:

6. WE'RE DREAMING OF A MARY FOUNDATION CHRISTMAS
It's a fact: the mail delivery slows down in December because the Post Office gets overwhelmed with packages. In order to make sure you have plenty of The Ultimate Affordable But Priceless Catholic Stocking Stuffers–that is, Mary Foundation audios and Saint Jude Media novels, now is the time to make your request. To order online, go to:

http://www.catholicity.com/saintjude/

http://www.catholicity.com/maryfoundation/

You can also get these tools for evangelization through the mail by printing out the Order Forms at each site. Every January, February, and March we get letters from people who came back to the sacraments and even convert to the Catholic Faith because "ordinary" people like you had the guts to give them an audio or Catholic novel for Christmas. Don't delay.

7. LONG HAIR
A boy of 16 goes to his father and says, "Dad, can you buy me a car when I turn 17 next year?" "Sure," the father replies, "if you bring up your grades, read the Bible, and cut that long hair." A year goes by and the young man brings up his grades, reads the Bible daily, but fails to get his hair cut. "Your hair is too long. You can't get the car," his father tells him. "You know, Dad," the son replies, "in the Bible, I noticed that Jesus and the apostles had long hair." "That's true," the father responds."They did have long hair. You'll also note that the Bible says they walked everywhere they went."

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"There are but two ways. The way to Rome; and the way to atheism."
Cardinal Newman

Have a great week!

Yours with Mary,
