The CatholiCity Message

Volume IV, Number 22 – October 19, 2000

Dear CatholiCity Citizen,

This message will be shorter and (hopefully) sweeter than usual. We have only two items, plus a quote, a prayer, a correction, and a joke.

1. ENDS ON A GREAT DAY
On the 16th of October, CatholiCity Citizens and Mary Foundation benefactors began this year's final International 54 Day Rosary Novena, which ends on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Won't you join us? Please don't worry that you're jumping in a few days late–Our Lady is not a bureaucrat. For more details, go here:

QUOTES OF THE WEEK
"I had a professor who said it's man's ability to use language which makes him the dominant species on the planet. That may be, but I think there's one other thing that separates us from animals. We aren't afraid of vacuum cleaners."
Jeff Stilson

"A bad night at a bad hotel."
How Saint Teresa of Jesus is said
to have described this earthly life.

JOKE OF THE WEEK
Two brothers were fighting over the last bowl of their favorite cereal one morning and their mother thought this would be a good opportunity to teach her sons a spiritual lesson about sharing. "Boys, if Jesus was sitting at this table, He would say, 'Let my brother have the last bowl of cereal.'" The older brother looked at his younger brother and said, "Okay, you be Jesus."

22,000 OF US PRAYING
"Dear Jesus, King of Kings and Lord or Lords, pour your grace into the hearts of voters in the United States as we prepare for the upcoming election. Give us not the leader we deserve, but the one who will bring our country closer to Your holy will. Amen."

CORRECTION
In a recent CatholiCity Message, we told a story of how someone consumed crumbs of the Sacred Host dropped to the floor after Mass. According to Canon Law, the correct way would have been to disolve the crumbs in water and use the sacrarium (piscina) in the sacristy.

See you soon!

Yours in Christ,

Your Friends at CatholiCity
