The CatholiCity Message

Volume IV, Number 25 – November 14, 2000

Dear CatholiCity Citizen,

We have a message for you: take courage.

Now is the time to take the spiritual fight to the enemy regarding the future of the United States. Now is the time to call on the King of Kings to plunge the bright shining Sword of Saint Michael into the heart of darkness. The freedoms of our children and perhaps the very existence of our children's children depend on our resolve right now. We have listened for the voices of our Catholic leaders, and with the exception of our friend Deal Hudson at Crisis Magazine, we have heard nothing.

It falls upon us, the Citizens of CatholiCity and our friends–we few, a hearty band of brothers and sisters–to march forward in this battle for souls which is taking place (as it always does) in the realm of powers and principalities. This is fitting, because we are powerless in the eyes of the world.

THROW OFF DESPAIR
Just about every one of you know exactly what we're talking about. Just about every one of you has felt the oppressive spirit of despair in recent days as you watch national events. Like you, we have struggled against this despair and we have asked Our Lady what she wants us to do. The answer is now clear: it's time to press the spiritual battle.

OUR GOD
Ours is the God who parted the Red Sea. Ours is the God who gave victory to David over Goliath. Ours is the God who vouchsafed the victory of Christianity at the Battle of Lepanto against a superior foe, our ships flying under the banner of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. Ours was the God who fused the second bullet in the barrel of the gun of Ali Agca as he tried to steal the life away from our beloved pope. Ours was the God who made the sun spin at Fatima in 1917 when Mary promised a period of peace. Ours was the God who appointed the lowly archangel Michael to battle, bind, and banish the dark rebellious demons from heaven. Ours is the God who rose from the dead. Ours is the God who hears the blood of innocents crying out for justice.

We must continue to pray. We also must act. We're confident you will join us, and perhaps just as critically, recruit others in our army of grace in these four ways:

ENLISTMENT
Please call your pastors, priests, nuns, and bishops: Ask them to pray for the United States. The Mary Foundation, CatholiCity's parent organization, is today contacting over 1800 Catholic priests, nuns, deacons, and brothers, asking them to pray for God's will during these critical days.

OUR BATTLECRY
Many of you are already praying the Rosary, fasting, and offering up Mass and adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. Excellent! Each prayer, no matter how small, is a bullet into the heart of the enemy. Please join the workers of CatholiCity in reciting the Saint Michael Prayer every hour on the hour–or whenever you can during "open" moments during the day. We will end this message with that prayer.

Saint Michael is our Big Gun.

Let's aim and fire often, dear friends.

CONTACT LEADERS
Contact Catholic and Christian leaders. Forward this message to them. Urge them to lead their constituents in prayer–through email and whatever means are available.

CITIZENSHIP
If you're an American, it is your right to make your voice heard to your local and national politicians, newspapers, and media outlets. Exercise your rights.

THE CROSS ALWAYS PRECEDES THE RESURRECTION
Remember this, Christian soldiers: do not assume that the worldly outcome you desire is necessarily God's will. God can bring good out of evil–and today's battle is but a preparation for coming spiritual wars.

Finally please join tens of thousands of others in prayer:

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, pray for us.
Saint Katharine Drexel and Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us.
Saint Thomas More, Patron of Politicians, pray for us.
Immaculate Mary, Patroness of the United States, pray for us.
Jesus Christ, King of Kings, we adore you!

Amen.

"An undertaking to be pleasing to God must have three conditions: it must be sincere, selfless, and persevering."
Saint John Vianney

"The 'prudent' have always called the works of God madness.
Onward! Be daring!"
Blessed Josemaria Escriva

"When the head languishes, the members have no vigor."
Pope Saint Gregory I

"Understanding is the sure and clear knowledge of some invisible thing."
Saint Bernard

We've been emailing you often lately, and as our longtime readers know, this is not our usual format. We will keep you posted.

Yours in Christ,

Your Fellow Prayer Warriors at CatholiCity
