Dear CatholiCity Citizen,

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Never close your lips to those to whom you have opened your heart."
Charles Dickens

PRAYER FOR OUR MILITARY
Let's all of us, all 70,000+ CatholiCity Citizens reading this around the world, pray for the safety and success of our military men and women as they sacrifice for us–willing to make the ultimate sacrifice of their lives–in the ongoing battle in Afghanistan and in other parts of the world. To do this, let us turn to the angel God used to cast the evil one into the darkness. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit..."

"Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls."

"Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, pray for our soldiers! Saint Katharine Drexel and Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us. Saint Thomas More, Patron of Politicians, pray for us. Saint Joseph, Patron Saint of Canada; Saints George and Andrew, patrons of England and Scotland, pray for us. Immaculate Mary, Patroness of the United States, pray for us. Jesus Christ, King of Kings, we adore you! Amen."

Thanks for being a part of our work, our lives, and our loves. On a personal note, the mother of one of our workers is in the hospital. She has been battling pneumonia for weeks, and other complications are setting in, causing her a level of suffering most of us never have and never will experience. The doctors have been frustrated in their attempts to discover what exactly besides pneumonia is causing her agony, which is only sporadically alleviated by pain medication. We can't recall asking you to pray for a personal intention like this before, but we're making an exception for this holy woman. Please pray for this mom to get well. Our deepest gratitude is yours.

With Christ,
