The CatholiCity Message

Volume V, Number 24 – October 25, 2001

Dear CatholiCity Citizen,

This will be one of our shorter messages. We'll rock, and you can roll (your eyes, at least...):

1. THE TAX MAN
Early next week, we'll hold our annual "tax drive" to support CatholiCity. We know we can count on you.

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

"I like to pay taxes. With them I buy civilization."
Oliver Wendell Holmes

"We should enjoy spiritual things, but only use material things."
Saint Francis de Sales

2. SMALL POX SAINT
We received a message this week saying that Blessed Kateri died of small pox, along with the suggestion that we ask for her intercession for all those who have died or are suffering from or may suffer from anthrax and other possible biological or chemical attacks. We think that's a great idea. Spread the word.

3. WAHHABI HUH?
No, we didn't misspell that. Wahhabi is the sect of Islam to which Osama bin Laden belongs, and we've just posted a link on our homepage that explains its disturbing history. To learn more about Wahhabi, along with other links of news and commentary on current events, go to:

5. THE PRINCE OF HEAVENLY HOSTS
Anyone in our line of work–work that helps save souls and therefore invites attacks from old sparky–quickly learns to rely on Saint Michael the Archangel. Let's all 70,000+ of us pray to the patron of the military together, offering the intention of safety for innocent civilians in Afghanistan, our fighting men, our political leaders, our postal workers, our police-fire-rescue workers, and our own family and friends...

"Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen."

And Amen. See you next week. We'll leave you with a smile...

"Remember: praying is singing half."
G.K. MacBrien

With Christ,
