Matrimony
From the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Simplified
Definition of Matrimony (1601)
By their matrimonial Covenant, a man and a woman establish a partnership of the whole of life. This Covenant is by nature ordered to the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring. Between the baptized, Christ has raised this Covenant to the dignity of a sacrament (Canon 1055, #1).
