The Holiness of a Christian Name (2156-2158)

A person receives his/her Christian name at Baptism. This should be the name of a saint, of a Christian mystery, or of a virtue. A baptismal name should not be "foreign to Christian sentiment" (Canon 855).

To dedicate each day to God's glory, the Christian should begin his morning with the sign of the cross which invokes the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God calls everyone by name because a person's name is holy, an icon of the person himself.

Jesus and Your New Name (2159)

The person's name is for eternity, marking each person's uniqueness in the kingdom. Jesus says, "I will give a white stone, with a new name written on the stone" (Rev 2:17). The elect have Jesus' name and the Father's name "written on their foreheads" (Rev 14:1).
